Why Professional Hair & Makeup Are Included With Every Portrait Session
One of the most common worries women have before a professional photoshoot isn't what happens in front of the camera. It's everything that happens before they ever arrive.
How should I do my makeup? What should I do with my hair? Will my everyday makeup photograph well? What if I don't look like myself?
At Bella Chic Photography, I don't want you spending the morning of your session worrying about any of those things. That's why professional hair and makeup are included with every portrait experience.
It's not about transforming you into someone else. It's about taking one more thing off your plate so you can arrive, settle in, and enjoy being taken care of.
Your Experience Starts Before You Step in Front of the Camera
Being photographed can feel intimidating, especially if it's been years since you've had professional portraits taken—or you've never had a photoshoot that was just for you.
Hair and makeup give you time to ease into the experience.
Instead of walking through the door and immediately stepping in front of my camera, you'll begin by sitting down with a professional hair and makeup artist. Your look is created with your features, personal style, wardrobe, and the type of portraits we're creating in mind.
By the time we begin photographing, you've had time to relax and feel ready.
Professional Makeup Doesn't Mean Heavy Makeup
Professional photography makeup doesn't have to mean dramatic makeup.
Your look can be natural and understated, polished and glamorous, or somewhere in between. The goal is to create a look that photographs beautifully under professional lighting while still feeling like you.
If you rarely wear makeup, you don't need to suddenly become someone who does.
And if you love glamour, this is your opportunity to enjoy it.
It's One Less Thing for You to Worry About
A portrait experience should not begin with you standing in your bathroom wondering whether your hair is cooperating or whether you chose the right shade of lipstick.
My job is to take care of the details.
That starts before your session with planning your wardrobe and the style of portraits you'd like to create. On the day of your photoshoot, professional hair and makeup are another part of that guided experience.
Then, once you're in front of my camera, I'll take care of posing, expression, lighting, and angles.
You don't need to know how to do any of it before you arrive.
You Should Still Look Like You
At my Tacoma-area portrait studio, professional hair and makeup aren't included because I believe you need makeup to be beautiful.
They're included because I want you to feel taken care of from the moment your experience begins—and because every detail of your session is designed to help you look and feel your best without having to figure it all out yourself.
Whether we're creating contemporary glamour portraits, playful pinup images, or tasteful boudoir photography, the woman in the finished portrait should still feel unmistakably like you.
Just on a day when everything was taken care of.
